An extremely rare, square, large one-handed Swiss verge pocket watch, circa 1690.
Brass, gilt, square form, moulded case with plain sides. Enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, florally engraved spandrels and blued steel single hand. Square brass full plate movement, keywind, signed, gilt, with chain/fusee, baluster-shaped movement pillars, four-arm steel balance, fine florally engraved and pierced balance cock.

Even though this watch bears the signature “Caillatre à Paris”, it was produced in Geneva by the Caillatre family and shipped to their Parisian shop. The Caillatres lived in Geneva and moved to Denmark around 1695.
