A Swiss, remarkable pair-cased verge pocket watch with date indicator and matching repoussé chatelaine, circa 1780.
Two cases: outer case brass gilt, covered with tortoiseshell, à goutte; inner case gold, the back lid with an opaque polychrome enamelled medallion depicting a blooming rose-twig, and with a florally engraved bezel. Corresponding chatelaine with repoussé decoration, length: 140 mm. Enamel dial with radial Roman hours, inner subsidiary chapter ring with Arabic numerals for the date, and Fleur-de-Lys hands. Full plate movement, keywind, finely florally hand-engraved, signed, chain/fusee, three-arm brass balance, and pierced balance bridge.
