Gold and enamel form watch with original key

A very rare gold and enamel melon form watch with an original key made by Amalric Frères in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1780. This enamelled watch was crafted from 18 carat gold in the shape of a melon with eight alternating blue and black enamelled segments and has hinged lids. The partially restored white enamel dial has black Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic quarter hours, an original hour hand and added minute hand. The numbered movement has a verge escapement.
