Gold and enamel ball form watch

A gold and enamel Boule de Genève pendant form watch made in Switzerland, circa 1810. The 18 carat gold ball form case has 18 separate polychrome enamel paintings including two elaborate scenes with several figures on the front and back, eight small paintings with various putti motifs and eight miniature paintings with rose blossoms along the edges. The white enamel dial has Arabic hours, outer minute divisions with Arabic 15 minute numerals and Breguet hands. The movement has a miniature verge escapement.

No other example with such an elaborate enamel case is known. A pair of ball form enamel watches with only one figural scene was part of the Sandberg collection and sold at auction for CHF 17.500.
