An extremely fine English, 18k gold hunting cased, trip minute repeating, two-train, grande and petite sonnerie keyless clockwatch, circa 1878. Accompanied by a Frodsham certificate. The case with London hallmarks for 1878-1879. Entered in the registers in 1880. Heavy bassine et filet by Alfred Stram (master mark), polished, protected hand-setting button. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. A frosted gilt, three-quarter plate movement, 29 jewels, two-train, tandem winding, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a trip-slide on the band, strike/silent lever and grande/petite sonnerie selection lever protruding from the bezel. Dial and movement signed. Case punch with Alfred Stram’s mark AS.
