A fine and unusual Swiss, keyless, 18k gold and blue enamel fob watch, circa 1880.
A solid French case pierced and engraved hinged case back with foliate decoration to a central heron bird defensively poised, the pierced sections revealing an engine-turned translucent royal blue enamel cuvette underneath, a plain band with a decorated bezel. Gold cuvette. Off-white enamel dial with radial Arabic numerals, outer dots, inner gilt fleur-de-lis pattern. Gold Louis XIV hands. A gilt movement, captive barrel, 15 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator.
