An early Swiss 18 carat gold open faced gentlemen’s pocket watch with special hand-setting mechanism, circa 1890. The movement with a lever escapement. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, outer minute divisions, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued moon hands. A plain case. Dial signed, case numbered.

Founded in Le Locle, Switzerland, in 1853 by Charles Felicien Tissot, who was later joined by his son Charles Emile Tissot, the firm Ch. F. Tissot became Chs. F. Tosson & Fils in 1880. Still based in Le Locle, the firm would later take the name of Tissot.
