A slim French gilt brass and tortoiseshell open faced key wound pocket watch made by Le Roy in Paris, circa 1870. The gilded brass movement with a verge escapement. The front with a polychrome enamelled river scene surrounded by applied gilt flowers, small, central white enamel time indication with radial Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions and decorative hands, a winding arbour between 1 and 2 o’clock. The case back is covered with tortoiseshell and features an engraved openwork gilt panel centered by a pink stone. Movement signed and numbered. Comes with the original winding key.
