A fine and exceptional English 20 carat gold pair cased half quarter repeating key wind pocket watch made by John Ellicott in London, circa 1767. The gilt full plate movement with a fusee cylinder escapement, plain baluster pillars, a pierced and engraved balance cock, and polished steel hammers. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and blued steel poker & beetle hands. The finely pierced and engraved inner case is stamped H.T., and the further pierced outer case features repoussé decoration attributed to George Michael Moser, a founding member of the Royal Academy. The repeat is activated through the engraved pusher. Movement and dust cap signed and numbered, the outer back of the inner case numbered, the outer case scratch numbered to the inner bezel edge and an indistinct London Hallmark under the bezel.
