An English verge with unusual named and dated dial in silver pair cases circa 1803. Full plate fusee movement with fusee and chain. Attractive cock pierced and engraved in a close pattern of concentric circles. Unusual regulator, the square in a blue steel disc, blue steel indicating to an index on the plate. Plain three-arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Rare white enamel dial, the numerals replaced by W. Ashmore. 1803, probably the original owner’s name, blue steel hands. Silver pair cases, silver oval pendant and bow, maker’s mark WH in a rectangle.
