Exquisite Swiss 18-carat gold, enamel and sapphire set open faced Art Deco dress watch and chain, circa 1930. Retailed by Baume & Mercier, Genève. Very fine precision lever movement with 18 jewels, Geneva striping and Geneva seal. Silvered dial with applied gold numerals gold Art Deco hands. Case enamelled on both sides with ‘Greek bordure’, back with noble coat-of-arms and, so-called, Earl’s crown, whole rim of the case including bow set with faceted sapphires, crown also set with a sapphire, Baume & Mercier Geneva punch. Comes with a corresponding 18-carat watch chain in Greek design that fits the enamelling and presumably original box/holder withstand to the back. Dial and movement signed, case and movement with matching number.
