Silver coach clock with calendar by Carolus Preyer
–
An extraordinary German coach clock with calendar, circa 1740. Originally with bell, verge movement, splendid decoration, rare calendar with date and month. Champlevé dial with apertures for the calendar, Roman hours and Arabic minutes, blued steel hands. Silver repoussé case, with elaborate figure scene to the back. Dial and movemenet signed.

The watch originally had further complications and has probably been restored several times over the centuries and reduced to the current version. It is likely that the watch had an alarm in any case, but also a self striking and repeater mechanism. The movement can be completely removed and is only hooked.

Signed: Carolus Preyer Fridtberg
