Silver repoussé watch in pair cases
–
A large and early pair cased pocket watch probably made in Friedberg, Germany, circa 1740. Both cases were crafted from silver, the outer repoussé case of exceptional quality with a unique high relief biblical scene and the inner case is plain. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minutes and gilt hands. The movement has an early verge escapement, very fine pillars, a worm screw and a particularly beautiful snake decoration on the plate.
