A technically highly interesting and heavy Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased astronomical pocket watch with perpetual calendar and seconde morte probably made for the Indian market, circa 1870. Precision lever movement, gold wheels, tandem winding in the manner of Mairet, lever movement with special lever, perpetual calendar, independent seconds, moon phase. White enamel dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, perpetual calendar, moon phase, stoppable independent jumping seconds. Engraved case. Case numbered, cuvette signed and numbered, movement signed.

From a technical point of view the combination of perpetual calendar, moon phase and seconde morte is one of the rarest complications. Only a few manufacturers, such as Louis Audemars or even Badollet, have made such excellent movements.

According to the preferences of the Indian customers, the cases were either enamelled, set with stones or engraved as elaborately as here.
