Gold grande & petite sonnerie repeater attributed to Henri Grandjean & Cie
–
A historically interesting and heavy Swiss gold hunting cased quarter repeating pocket watch with grande & petite sonnerie, circa 1875 . Precision lever movement, tandem winding, grande sonnerie or petite sonnerie on demand, quarter-hour repeater, probably a Louis Audemars calibre. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, subsidiary seconds, rose gold hands. Engine-turned case, the front engraved depicting a hunting scene, case band with two levers for the selection between grande Sonnerie or petite sonnerie, there’s a possibility of switching off the repeater. Case numbered, dial numbered on the back and signed Emile Gabus, the movement numbered twice (which one is probably the serial number of Henri Grandjean & Cie).
