A very fine English gold, enamel and diamond set open faced cylinder pocket watch, circa 1780. Typical top quality, decorated Ellicott movement, large diamond endstone, fine early cylinder escapement with rare safety device. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, gold hands. Case with turquoise coloured enamel, white decorated rim, star shaped gold inlays, the back with applied monogram, originally set with rose cut diamonds, but most of them are missing. Movement signed, cuvette and movement with matching numbers.
