An early French 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating repoussé verge pocket watch, circa 1760. Verge movement, repeating the hours and quarter hours. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, diamond setting and probably original hands, also diamond-set. Massive case with repoussé scene on the back, depicting a battle between six armed horsemen, the rim with the finest sound openings, the front with the finest enamel inlays, bell. Movement signed and numbered.

This piece is a rarety. The design of the dial and the diamond-set hands are very rare and the repeating mechanism on a bell is rare as well. But the most special feature is the case, which shows a unique repoussé scene on the one side and has the finest enamel inlays on the other side.
