A very rare Swiss 18K pink gold, two-train keyless quarter repeater pocket watch with date and alarm, circa 1880. Retailed by Ch. Grottendieck, Bruxelles. A polished case, triple hinged and a hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute track with red Arabic 24-hour numerals, sunk subsidiary seconds and date dials. Blued steel spade hands, black arrow hand for the alarm. A gilt brass, two barrels wound clockwise for the going and anti-clockwise for the alarm, 34 jewels, straight-line counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometre regulator.
