Gold open faced chronograph
–
A fine and rare French 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating keyless lever pocket watch with chronograph and progressive central minute register, circa 1890. Matte gilt movement, 31 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman hours, outer minute and fifths of a second divisions, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, gold spade hands and a blued steel chronograph hands. Polished case, a co-axial button in the crown for the start/stop and return-to-zero functions of the chronograph and register, an engraved monogram on the back. Movement signed and numbered.
