Silver watch engraved with Swiss lake view

A fine and rare Swiss silver and enamel open faced keyless lever pendant watch, circa 1915. Rhodium plated movement, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Frosted silver dial with black painted dauphine numerals, outer minute divisions and original blued steel spade hands. Case oblong with canted corners, polished, the back decorated with an engraved Swiss lake view, a swan in the foreground, overlaid with translucent azure enamel, asymmetric border decorated with white champlevé enamel outlining.

The engraving of the lake scene and swan is done so that it gives a beautiful three dimensional effect. It is made by one of the specialist Geneva enamelling companies such as Steinwachs.
