Gold lever for Besançon Observatory Timing Contest by Breguet

A fine Swiss 18-carat white and yellow gold keyless lever pocket chronometer for Besançon Observatory Timing Contest with the original 18-carat white and yellow gold Breguet fob, circa 1946. Sold to Jean-Bernard Ostermeyer in 1946. Movement with matte grey bridges, 17 jewels, stamped with the Besançon viper’s head mark, straight-line lever escapement, Guillaume balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. White gold hinged cuvette with engraved inscription. Silver engine-turned dial with Roman numerals on a brushed reserve, outer dot minute divisions, subsidiary dial for the seconds and original blued steel Breguet hands. Polished case, white gold with yellow gold rims and bow, coin-edge band. Dial signed, case numbered. Accompanied by the original Breguet morocco fitted box and the original Breguet morocco fitted box for the fob.
