A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold hunting cased minute repeating triple date calendar keyless lever watch with phases and ages of the moon, circa 1880. Sold to Monsieur Vangohechen on September 4, 1880 for 3100 francs. Frosted gilt-brass movement, 23 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Gold hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five minute Arabic numerals, three subsidiary dials for days of the week, date, seconds concentric with moon ages, apertures for the phases of the moon and the months below 12 o’clock, original blued steel spade hands. Engine turned case, the front with an engraved monogram, polished band. Cuvette signed.
