A fine and large Swiss chromed steel open faced 30-second split-seconds keyless lever chronometer chronograph with instantaneous 30-minute register, Olimpionico, made for timing outdoor Olympic events, circa 1940. Movement qualité Olympique, gilt brass, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, high frequency monometallic balance, self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, split-seconds chronograph with visible work. Stainless steel hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with black Arabic numerals for 1-30 seconds, 1/10th seconds track, inner red numerals for 30-60 seconds, subsidiary instantaneous 30-minute register and original blued steel baton hands. Massive case, polished, button at 1 for the start/stop, at 11 for the split-seconds and return-to-zero by depressing the crown. Dial signed, case and movement signed. Accompanied by the original Lemania fitted box and Observatoire de Neuchatel rating certificate dated February 5, 1942.
