A fine, rare English gilt-brass and paste set double dialed two-time zone centre seconds watch with calendar, moon ages and stopwatch feature made for the Chinese market, circa 1780. Hinged gilt brass movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-armed balance concealed beneath the dial, flat balance spring. One dial is white enamel with a small eccentric Roman chapter ring, outer dot minute indexes, subsidiary dials for the age of the moon, date and regulator index, the second dial is also white enamel with Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions, Arabic five-second numerals and original gold pear hands. Consular case, glazed to both sides, engraved with flowers and leaves, the bezels set with alternate blue and red pastes, lever for the stopwatch feature on the edge of the dial plate. Dial signed.
