A very fine Swiss 18 carat gold open faced split seconds chronograph keyless dress watch made by Patek Philippe in Geneva, circa 1920. Retailed by Tiffany & Co in New York, U.S.A. Sold on November 3, 1921. The nickelled silver Quality Extra movement with Geneva striping decoration, 27 jewels, a calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil and swan neck micrometre regulator. White enamel dial with bold Roman hours, an outer minute track with fifth of a second divisions and Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and original blued steel pear shaped hands. The solid polished case with a curved bezel, concealed hinge, button at 11 for the split seconds with a locking bolt, a button in the crown for the start/stop and return-to-zero function of the chronograph, and a gold hinged cuvette. Dial signed Tiffany & Co, case and movement also signed Patek Philippe & Co. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives.
