Rose gold quarter repeating automaton by Hoff & Fils

A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold open faced quarter repeating keyless lever pocket watch with automaton Jacquemarts made for the Islamic market, circa 1890. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva Striping decoration, 29 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Gold hinged cuvette with engraved foliate border and the technical details. Matte silver dial with painted Islamic numerals separated by gold applied flowers, outer raised minute track, subsidiary seconds, the centre with two gold automaton cherubs appearing to strike the hours and quarters on two bell and original blued steel spade hands. Polished case, the back engraved with twin vacant cartouches within a foliate engraved border. Cuvette signed.
