A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold and enamel hunting cased keyless lever pendant watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1896. Frosted gilt movement, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, selfcompensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette. Opaline enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute gold paillon divisions with five minute Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and original gilt Louis XVI hands. The front cover painted with romantic enamel scene in a woodland landscape, surrounded by an engraved gold foliate frame with diamonds, the back cover painted with flowers surrounded by a gold foliate frame, gold glazed bezel.
