Gold keyless chronometer

A very fine and rare Swiss 18-carat gold half hunting-cased keyless pocket chronometer, circa 1890. Rhodium-plated, sunray and oeil-deperdrix decoration, 17 jewels, 4 in chatons, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral timing screws, blued steel helical balance spring, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette, gold-rimmed cover glazed to view the movement. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track, Arabic five-minute markers, subsidiary seconds dial, original gold double spade hands. Polished case, spring-loaded front cover with glazed aperture, black enamel Roman chapter ring, inner minute track. Movement and case numbered.
