An elegant and very rare, thin Swiss 18-plaincarat white and yellow gold open-faced square Art Deco keyless dress watch with concealed folding strut for use as a desk clock, circa 1929. Rhodium-plated movement, oeil-de-perdrix decoration, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Brushed silver dial with applied yellow gold cubiste upright Arabic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, and original yellow gold Breguet hands. Square case with curved corners, three-body, pendant and back in white gold, white gold band with hinged section forming a strut for use as a desk clock. Dial, case, and movement signed Vacheron & Constantin, movement also signed Merimont Watch Co, movement and case numbered. Accompanied by a Vacheron & Constantin fitted box.
