A fine and rare English 18 carat rose gold and enamel quarter repeating pair cased verge watch with machting chatelaine, circa 1780. Gilt finished verge movement, chain fusée, pierced and engraved balance cock and foot, diamond endstone, push repeat striking on a bell, gilt dust cover. White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Finely pierced and engraved inner case with shells and scrolls, the outer case decorated with alternating opaque white and translucent blue enameled patterning, the back centered by a blue enameled classical urn. Dial signed, dust cover and movement signed and numbered. Accompanied by brass chatelaine with corresponding opaque white and translucent blue enamel decoration.
