A fine English 18 carat gold, enamel and paste set open faced key wound pocket watch with up and down made for the Indian market, circa 1875. Gilt finished 3/4 plate lever movement, some jewels carried in screwed gold chatons. Gold cuvette with inscription on the interior. Gold dial centrally engraved with flowers with Roman numerals, two subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds and up-and-down indicator. Engraved case and bow, the back lid with opaque light and medium blue enamel with paste set arabesques, the front lid similarly decorated with central aperture surrounded by Roman numerals. Dial and movement signed, case stamped with maker’s mark ‘LN’ and London date letter for 1875.
