A rare Swiss gold, enamel, diamond and ruby set beetle form keywound beetle form watch, circa 1890. Gilt finished cylinder movement. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Case in the form of a beetle with hinged wings concealing the dial, the wings enhanced by translucent blue enamel over engine turning and round cut diamonds, the head of the beetle further enhanced by opaque black enamel, round cut diamonds and ruby set eyes, the underside realistically chased as the body, with corresponding gilt metal and enameled chain.
