Gold and enamel centre seconds watches by Vaucher

An exceptionally fine, rare and important Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel identical numbered, mirror image pair of open faced centre seconds duplex watches made for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Mirror polished and blued steel key-wound duplex movements, bimetallic compensation balances with blued steel wedge-shaped weights. Hinged gold cuvettes. White enamel dials with Roman numerals, gold spade hands and centre seconds. Large cases, pink, light blue and translucent scarlet champlevé enamel floral decorated bezels, rims, pendants and bows, the backs decorated with finely painted, mirror image polychrome enamel bouquet on a mauve ground. Both movements are signed, cuvettes and movement rims numbered 160. Comes with matching gold and enamel keys and fitted boxes.
