A fine Swiss open faced quarter repeating musical watch made for the Chinese market. Movement, mid 19th Century, recased in a 20th Century 18 carat rose gold, enamel turqouise and pearl set case in the manner of an 18th Century watch. Full plate gilt finished movement, quarter repeating on two hammers, music on the hour and on demand. Gold cuvette. Engraved gilt dial, central polychrome enamel floral motif with guitar and music book with blue enamel border, enamel cartouches with Arabic numerals, enamel spacers, outer enamel seconds division. Polychrome enamel landscape scene to the case back, two fisherman to the foreground, village in the background, pearl set bezel and rim, turquoise and pearl set rim, on demand music lever in the band.
