A large and heavy Swiss, 14 carat yellow gold minute repeating keyless pocket watch, circa 1880. A solid case with a reeded band, Hinged polished gold cuvette with dedication engraving White enamel dial with narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and blued steel spade hands. Nickel-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 31 jewels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial and movement signed James Picard.
