Silver pair cased verge pocket watch

A fine Dutch silver repoussé verge pocket watch with mock pendulum, circa 1765. Full plate fire gilt verge movement with worm wheel setup between the plates, silver mock pendulum depicting cupid sitting and drinking with the words: VOOR DEN DORST (For the thirst), decorative pillars.
Silver repoussé outer case, plain polished inner case. Winding through the back.
White enamel dial with decorative gilt hands.

Pieter van den Bergh was born in 1732 and worked in Rotterdam in the middle of the 18th century.
He was from The Hague and married at the age of 20 on December 17, 1752, with Steijntje van der Stolk. He died on 10 August 1792 in Rotterdam.
