Fire gilt bronze case

A magnificent French lavishly decorated, fire gilded bronze and pierced Renaissance pocket watch case, circa 1650.
The hinged front is ornamented with an open work edge with foliate scrolls and flowers, the center is glazed, the reverse is open worked to match the front, its rim embellished with fine floral engraving, the band is pierced with baluster ornamentation and decorated with a vase finial.
