An early and extremely rare minute repeating precision pocket watch with duplex escapement made by John Cross on Charterhouse Square, London, England, circa 1822. The numbered open faced case of this watch, which was crafted from 18 carat gold, has London Hallmarks for 1822. Its white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and gilt hands. The movement has a chronometer balance, duplex escapement and a diamond endstone, repeating the minutes.
The case and cuvette have matching numbers, the cuvette is signed.
