Gold probably tourmalines and emeralds set watch

An English, extremely rare, museum like repoussé pair cased verge watch, set with precious stones, probably tourmalines and emeralds, signed Cartier/P. Lianna London, probably for the Russian market, circa 1730.
Early signed verge movement, worm screw. Signed similarly solid gold champlevé dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minutes numerals and later pink gold Louis XV style hands. Repoussé pair case, high grade gold, at least 18 Carat, probably more, outer case repoussé, back with a representation of rocailles and tendrils, in between the high quality stone setting, probably red tourmalines and emeralds, face also with an alternating red and green stone setting, in between various castle views, case signed Cartier, additionally master’s punch IPF with a crown.

The watch is an absolute rarity. Only a few gold verge watches with jewels of this quality are known and preserved. They were mainly delivered to Imperial Russia. Similar pieces can also be found in the famous Hermitage collection ‘The Collections of the Russian Emperors and Empresses’.
