An English rare pocket watch with jumping centre seconds and duplex escapement according to Edouard Jacot for the Chinese market, circa 1815.
Bridge movement, lavishly engraved, duplex escapement, going barrel, five-arm steel balance. White enamel dial, black Roman numerals, black outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 and gilt spade hands, 18 carat polished consular case, chased and Engraved, inner cap.
Watches of this type for the Chinese marked were usually produced in silver cases. To find such a timepiece in an 18K gold case is a rare case of luck.
