An exquisite Repousse verge pocket watch in a triple case “Aneneas’ farewell to Dido”.
Brass/gilt case, circa 1778, applied shagreen with stud decoration, glazed, outer case is gold, punched mythological high relief scene “Aneneas’ farewell to Dido”, large lateral hinge, polished, case maker’ s punch mark “TW”. The dial is enamel, radial Roman hours, blued “Poker & Beetle” hands. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, applied engraved ornaments, chain/fusee, decorated movement pillars, verge escapement, three arm steel balance, florally engraved pierced balance bridge.
