An important English gilt metal gem set pair cased coach clock with center seconds, quarter hour and hour strike, moon age and phase made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. Full plate movement, keywind, regilt, screwed on florally engraved ornaments, signed, large barrel, 2 hammers, chain/fusee, verge escapement, three armed brass balance, engraved and star shaped open work balance cock, chatoned diamond endstone on balance. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, center seconds with stopping device, inner red indicators for moon phase and moon age, blued seconds hand, arrow shaped hand for calender, gold poker and beetle hands for indicating the hours and minutes. Gilt brass outer case, bezel studded with gemstones, the back decorated with central carved tortoiseshell plate, studded with red and white gemstones, framed by a border of engraved owers and cartouches, open worked edge with floral ornamentation, pusher with red gem for opening the à goutte case, large outer hinge. Gilt brass inner case, polished center framed by a border of volutes and scrolls, open worked edge with floral ornamentation, signed and numbered cap protecting the movement, rear bell, lever for stopping the central seconds Go/Stop, lever for muting Strike/Silent.
