An extremely rare and fine English repoussé pair-cased verge watch with a half-quarter repeater, in signed case, circa 1750.
Two pair 18K gold cases: the outer case with repoussé high relief of extraordinary quality, pierced, and signed on the rim, F.C. Langpour (Dresden); and the inner case engraved with a representation of birds and mythical creatures and also pierced. The outer case is comparable in quality to the famous cases by Moser and Dupont. Signed gold champlevé dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes with Arabic five minutes numerals, and probably original hands. Gilt English full plate verge movement, half quarter repeater on the bell, pierced and engraved balance bridge.
