An English heavy gentleman’s pocket watch with musical movement, circa 1820.
18 Carat gold engine-turned case with reeded band, numbered and signed gold dome, a lever for activating the musical movement at 11, a lever for stopping the musical movement at 1, and case maker’s punch mark CM (Charles Muston, Clerkenwell). Gold frosted dial with an engine-turned centre, applied radial Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds, and gold spade hands. Keywind, frosted gilt bridge movement with two going barrels, on tray musical movement with pinned disc and 26 blued steel vibrating blades, cylinder escapement, and three-arm ring balance.
