An English oval brass one-handed verge pendant watch with key, circa 1620
The watch features a gilded and blued steel movement with a pierced and engraved cock and pillars, as well as a verge escapement. The brass dial has engraved Roman radial hours and half-hour markers with a single-blued steel hand. The dial’s centre is engraved with a scene of landscape and flowers, while the outside is adorned with additional floral motifs. The watch is housed in a brass case, engraved with flowers and foliage, as well as the cartouche. The back plate of the movement is signed by John Wright.
