Timothy Williamson, English goldsmith and watch dealer
Timothy Williamson was trained as a goldsmith and probably did the design and engraving of its exceptional cases himself. The works, however, were likely supplied by William Hughes, with whom Williamson was closely associated, as Roger Smith has pointed out in an article for Antiquarian Horology. In Britten’s book Old Clocks and Watches and Their Makers, Timothy Williamson is listed as active in London from 1769 to 1788, first in Fleet Street and later in Great Russell Street.
Timothy Williamson made his fine watches and jukeboxes for the Emperor of China, among others, which can be seen in the Carnegie Museum in Pennsylvania, the Peiping Museum and the Palace Museum in Beijing.
