An English gold and enamel pair cased verge pocket watch, circa the mid-18th century. Made by watchmaker: Richard Gregg (active London, –1738, died 1758).
Full plate movement, chain and fusee, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, and signed: Rd. Gregg / London / 325.
Enamel dial with Roman hours, Arabic five-minute numerals, a central polychrome enamel painted scene (coat of arms); signed: In Domino Confido, and stones set steel hands. Two gold cases: an inner, pierced, polished, and an outer, with a polychrome enamel scene of cherubs.
