An English pocket watch with a pull wind mechanism via coaxial button in the pendant, circa 1824.
This watch has an 18 Carat gold engine-turned case with case maker punch mark “LC” (Louis Comptesse, Soho, London) and a push back; a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued spade hands; a bridge movement, a crown winding via tension spring, a standing barrel, a cylinder escapement and a three-arm ring balance.
The movement is signed and numbered.

Charles Edward Viner (1788-1875) apprenticed with Thomas Savage in London. He became a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1813 and was known for his top quality pocket watches, which he usually fitted with a pump winding mechanism he had invented.
