An English very rare, early and heavy quarter repeating gentleman’s pocket watch with spring detent escapement, circa 1820.
18 carat gold engine-turned case with reeded band, gold dome, case maker’s punch mark “TW (Thomas Walker)” and pusher for repetition via pendant. Enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, blued spade hands and signed “Chronometer”. Full plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, signed, with 2 hammers, 2 gongs, chain/fusee, bimetallic chronometer balance with 4 screws and 2 movable trapezoid weights and freesprung blued helical balance spring.
