English – Dutch watchmaker, Roger Dunster
Roger Dunster was probably born in London around 1675, he was the son-in-law of Ahasuerus Fromanteel who was a business partner of Christopher Clarke in the company Fromanteel & Clarke. He worked in Amsterdam from 1694, and later became a business partner of Christopher Clark in the Clarke & Dunster company from 1722 to around 1730. Afterwards he only worked under his own name, because Christopher Clark moved back to London. Various large clocks from Dunster are also known, such as floor clocks and table clocks. Roger Dunster died in 1747. In 1744 he was based at the “Vijgendam” in Amsterdam. He is currently considered one of the most important watchmakers in Amsterdam.
